Vancouver is well known for its beautiful city that sits between the pacific coast and a beautiful range of picturesque mountains. There's always some great sight seeing to be done while in the city or you can head out for some adventuring with lots to do in the area. While in the city, head to Robson street for some great downtown shopping while you're visiting.
For most the city is a highlight to many visitors in a new place, but in this beautiful province there is so much to see within just hours of Vancouver. If you want to stay local there are great options for both nature lovers and those who are fond of a little history. To see where some of the first trades in the area took place and what some call the 'birthplace of BC' head out to Langley to see the old and beautiful town of Fort Langley. With the old fort still standing this little town has lots of character and some cute stops to be made whether for a bite to eat or finding locally made products in some of its adorable little shops. This town has lots of character and is a great stop for anyone with little ones as it has lots to see and is stroller friendly.
Staying local isn't hard even if you are more of an outdoors explorer, with Golden Ears Park being just over the bridge in Maple Ridge. With some easy walks and some tougher hikes you are sure to find a little bit of adventure when heading up this way. Be sure to always check before you head up in winter as the roads do tend to be closed if the conditions heading up aren't entirely safe. If you're okay to head a bit further out of the city, about 1.5 hours away you can find Shannon Falls Park, another nice walk up or if you're wanting some even better views you can always head to the Sea to Sky gondola. For a small cost, it takes you up to beautiful views of the mountain range of the area sure to be worth your while.
Once your stop at Shannon Falls is winding down you can head back to the city for some great eats or keep heading north for a little more sightseeing. About an hour further north you'll find Whistler, world famous for its great skiing and snowboarding, and host of the 2010 Winter Olympics. Walk the beautiful village for great mountain views while you have good eats and boutique style shopping or grab a lift ticket and hit the slopes for an afternoon of fun.
